You will learn about recent transformative legislative changes, measures to enhance protection, and important updates to the registration process.

What are GIs?

GIs are names of products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities, reputation, or characteristics linked to that location. GIs protect the names of products ranging from wines and cheeses to newly introduced protection for names of craft and industrial products, ensuring that only products with a genuine link to a certain region and complying with established production standards can use the name. This protection preserves cultural heritage while fostering economic growth and consumer trust.
