Did you know that the Capri style is making a comeback?

Who would have thought when the ‘Capri’ style pants would make their return? Just like with all things fashion, the interest in this style is cyclical.

The legendary design first appeared in 1948 when Sonja de Lennart was walking on the beach of the Italian island Capri wearing long pants. Since she wanted to feel the water on her feet, she cut off the lower part. The rest is history as they say. The original form of this pair of pants is slim fit, three quarter in length, with a stylish shoer slit on the outside of the leg.

Sonia de Lennart is one of the many female fashion designers who model their creations because of specific circumstances. When she created her fitted, cropped pant, she was ahead of her time, because most designers then made ankle-length wide-fit trousers. The new silhouette quickly became sensational.

Years later, the designer Edith Head incorporated Lennart's ‘Capri’ pants into the costumes for the movie Roman Holiday, for which she won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design in a Black-and-White Motion Picture. In the 1960s, it was the choice of film icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

Last year, the world-famous cut gained new popular fans. As the face of Versace, Dua Lipa revived the image of the dreamy Italian retro vacation, posing in multiple versions of the pants, styled with psychedelic prints.

Capri is also back in all kinds of fabrics – Lycra, linen, denim, etc.
