Toino Abel
Nuno Henriques
Toino Abel is situated in Alcobaça, a Portuguese city with rich heritage in basket weaving. The dying craft of handmade reed baskets was revived by Nuno Henriques in 2010. In fact, the brand was founded in Berlin where Henriques moved after studying Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. In 2013 he returned to the Portuguese countryside to work with the local craftspeople. The brand, which carries his grandfather's name, brought back to life the ancient craft of weaved baskets with a contemporary bag design.
